Our story

The cellar that runs under the house was built in the 1800s by a wine merchant, presumably from a noble family. Stories of the merchant and his family have been passed down through oral tradition and are now told by the locals in the small village.
The icce or Itce, (e:ice) = old Hungarian measure of space, 0.84 l. It varied from place to place and from age to age, usually denoting 7-8 dl of liquid, but there were also smaller and larger quantities of icce. It was used to measure wine and other beverages in the 17th and 18th centuries.
The current renovation of the estate was completed in 2024 and the cellar was just about ready to receive the first grapes harvested. Zoltán Szabó is the current owner of the property and the estate, and he is keen to transport visitors back to the past with the character and atmosphere of the building. He wants to convey the atmosphere that captivated him when he first came here...
The building is imposing and historic, with vast interiors and painted rooms that evoke a bygone era. During the renovation, special care was taken to preserve and renovate the painted room, which was repainted in its original colours and patterns by careful hands.
Upstairs there are 8 bedrooms with separate bathrooms. In the middle of the building there is a wine terrace and a restaurant. Here we can accommodate about 70 people. At the bottom of the building there is a vaulted cellar system, which is currently used as a cellar for storing our wines.
Our aim is to farm the 2 hectare estate organically. In 2024, we started the transition to organic farming. In 2025, we plan to plant another 2 hectares
